Admissions Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Admitting Representative at the UAB Emergency Room plays a crucial role in managing patient admissions, ensuring accurate registration, and maintaining compliance with hospital regulations and insurance requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate inpatient and outpatient admissions, including registering incoming patients and explaining hospital regulations.
• Obtain complete and accurate demographic and financial information from various sources, such as patient interviews and physician offices.
• Perform pre-certification, credit referral, or deposit collection, and obtain required signatures on legal consents and insurance forms.
• Review physician's orders for completeness and ensure all required information is listed.
• Provide assistance to callers, answer telephone calls, and maintain positive customer service at all times.
• Complete shift duties in a timely and accurate manner, complying with safety regulations and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in a hospital setting, medical office, or heavy customer service environment.
