In the outpatient services sphere, Physical Therapists are tasked with delivering direct patient care to individuals of diverse age brackets, from infants to the elderly, with the objective of improving their physical health and functional capabilities. Additionally, operational tasks within the Rehab Services Department form part of the job responsibilities. Active involvement in offering physical therapy services at outreach sites in neighboring communities is also a key component of the role.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

• Exhibits effective critical thinking and decision-making skills in care provision. Implements all treatment aspects based on acknowledged national, institutional, and evidence-supported standards. Administers therapy that aligns with or exceeds institutional outcome standards.
• Completes documentation promptly and accurately to support medical necessity as outlined by the department.
• Submits required paperwork for billing, accurate charges and authorizations. Demonstrates appropriate use of time management according to departmental productivity standards.
• Shows a proactive stance in driving personal professional development. Timely completion of all education mandated by the Monument Health system and for licensure/certification. Actively engages in promoting the profession within Monument Health and among the external community.
• Conducts supervision in compliance with the standards mandated by state, federal, and relevant professional associations.
• Involves and enlightens the patient, their family, and caregivers in the treatment plan, setting goals, and coordinating discharge as appropriate.
• Maintains compliance with insurance, accrediting bodies, and national and state regulatory agencies' requirements.
• Undertaking all other tasks as instructed.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Bachelors: Physical Therapy

Certification - Physical Therapist (PT) - South Dakota Board of Physical Therapy

Preferred:

Education - Masters: Physical Therapy

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
