Job Summary of Dock Worker:
Your tasks will involve aiding in warehouse operations through activities like order picking, package preparation, product assembly, inventory sorting, shipping, and order receiving. This role is vital for fulfilling the productivity and quality goals of the establishment while ensuring effective operations in a dynamic environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Dock Worker:
- Evaluate production schedules, customer orders, work instructions, delivery requests, or requisition forms to determine the items to be relocated or picked.
- Move materials and items from receiving or production sectors to designated storage sites.
- Sort and classify merchandise by SKU, quantity, and product category.
- Use an electric pallet jack and stand-up forklift for the necessary transportation of goods.
- Ascend to a height of 25 feet on a cherry picker while secured in a safety harness.
- Enhance communication methods to effectively interact with receivers, drivers, and forklift operators.
- Maintain adherence to safety protocols for truck and trailer pulling operations.
- Sort and allocate goods to specific areas within the warehouse.
- Utilize and manage equipment provided by the company, including personal protective gear and voice communication devices.
- Highlight and escalate safety issues affecting the work environment.
- Make sure to wear the designated uniform provided by the company as mandated.
- Compile and package customer orders using the items available in stock for shipment.
- Place tags or labels on the pallets and open containers to distinguish and identify them.
Qualifications and Experience of Dock Worker:
- - The basic requirements are a high school diploma, GED, or a combination of education and experience that is considered equivalent.
- Proficient in the operation of an electric pallet jack and standing forklift.
- Demonstrating the ability to ascend to a height of 25 feet on a cherry picker with the necessary safety precautions, including a harness.
- Proficiency in both communication and teamwork skills.
- Expertise in operating efficiently within a fast-paced and physically taxing environment.
